Getting Started with EduX LMS

A complete walkthrough of every feature in your learning management system.

Dashboard Overview

Your dashboard at /portal/lms is the command center for your LMS. Here you'll find:

Count of all registered learners across your tenant

Currently active course enrollments

Total completed enrollments

Average completion rate across all courses

Quick action buttons let you jump to New Course, Enrol Learner, Manage Users, or View Reports with one click.

Creating Courses

Navigate to Courses in the sidebar and click "+ Create Course".

Course settings you'll configure:

  • Title & Description — What learners see when browsing courses
  • Category & Difficulty — Organise and filter courses
  • Pass Mark — Minimum percentage to pass assessments
  • Completion Rule — All lessons, pass quiz, or both
  • Prerequisites — Require another course be completed first
  • Time Limit — Optional countdown for timed courses

After creation, you'll enter the Course Builder — a split-panel editor with a content tree on the left and editing area on the right.

Adding Content

The "+ Add" button opens a cascading menu with three categories:

Drip scheduling: Set a drip_days value on any lesson to delay access until X days after enrolment.

Assessments & Quizzes

EduX supports 10 question types with partial credit and manual grading:

Essay

Configure question banks with random draw, time limits, retry attempts, and pass/fail thresholds. Essay and free-text questions support manual grading with feedback.

Managing Users

Add learners individually or via CSV bulk import. Manage enrollments, groups, and roles from the Users page.

User Roles

  • Super Admin — Full platform control across all tenants
  • RTO Admin — Manages courses, users, and settings for their organisation
  • Learner — Takes courses, views certificates, tracks progress
  • Viewer — Read-only access to reports and content

Learning Paths

Go to Learning → Learning Paths to create structured multi-course journeys.

  • Sequential — Courses must be completed in order
  • Parallel — Any order, all must be completed
  • Add prerequisites, reorder courses, and issue certificates on path completion

Gamification

Navigate to Analytics → Gamification to configure points, badges, and leaderboards.

Configure points per activity (login, lesson complete, course complete, quiz pass, etc.), create custom badges, and toggle the learner-facing leaderboard.

Reports & Analytics

The Analytics → Reports section provides standard reports (learner progress, course completions, quiz results, certificates) plus a Custom Report Builder where you can select columns, apply filters, and schedule email delivery (daily/weekly/monthly).

All reports export to CSV/Excel and are AVETMISS-compatible for Australian VET compliance.

AI Tools

Go to Platform → AI Tools for admin AI features:

Course Outline Generator
Enter a topic, audience, and duration — AI generates a complete course structure with modules and lessons.
Quiz Generator
Generate multiple-choice questions from any topic or course content.
Content Summariser
Paste lesson text and get a concise summary for learner reference.
Skills Suggester
AI suggests relevant skills to tag on your courses.

Learner AI Assistant: Learners get a floating chat panel on the course player with Explain, Summarise, and Quiz Me modes — all scoped to the current lesson content.

E-Commerce & Pricing

Under E-Commerce you'll find tools to monetise your courses:

  • Pricing — Set per-course pricing with seat-based licensing
  • Coupons — Create discount codes with usage limits and expiry dates
  • Bundles — Package multiple courses together at a discounted price

Automations

Under Analytics → Automations, create event-driven workflows with 11 trigger types and 10 action types:

Triggers
Course completed, Quiz passed/failed, Certificate issued, Points reached, Enrolment created, and more
Actions
Send notification, Enrol in course, Award badge/points, Add to group, Issue certificate, Send email, Trigger webhook

Under the Platform dropdown you'll find advanced configuration:

  • Branches — Multi-tenant sub-portals with per-branch branding
  • Webhooks — Push events to external systems
  • API Keys — Manage REST API access tokens
  • Translations — Multi-language content management
  • Import/Export — Bulk CSV import users, export users & courses
  • Settings — Branding, gamification config, and general platform settings
